Everglades, FL

The Wood Stork - abundant in Central and S. America, but they're endangered in Florida. Lives in wetlands (marshes, swamps, and mangroves) and hunts for frogs, fish, insects.

Baby White Ibis

Excellent bird habitat...

One of my favorites - the Little Blue Heron

NO exageration - I almost stepped on this guy's tail as I was walking and looking in the trees for birds.. The American Alligator.

The Anhinga is often called Snakebird because it sometimes swims with only its neck and head above water. This bird doesn't have the oil gland that ducks have to coat their feathers and waterproof them so they are often seen with wings outstretched to dry them out.

My first Manatee! Seen near the boat dock at visitor center.
